I first started taking my interest in photography seriously when I became the reporter/photographer for the Hawaii Catholic Herald. After four years of being the newspaper’s primary photographer, I knew taking photos was more than just something I did in addition to being a traditional reporter. It had begun to equal my passion for writing. I’ve continued to work on improving my photographic eye since then and have added an interest in non-linear video editing and storytelling.
Samples of My Work:
POOL TIME – For a University of Maryland photo essay class, I shot pictures at a local Montgomery County public pool, trying to capture the joy and ageless fun of a day spent poolside.
THE PRIEST’S LIFE – For the same photo essay class, I reported, photographed and wrote a story on a retired priest, whose lifelong hobbies are carpentry and sailing. I used InDesign to fashion a layout similar to what might appear in a feature story in AARP Magazine (my model publication for this class project).
